Ms. Marie Occhiogrosso
Director of College Guidance
Marie Occhiogrosso graduated magna cum laude from Duquesne University with undergraduate degrees in English Literature and English Education. She has a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Marygrove College and College Admissions Counseling from UCLA, and earned a graduate certificate in Leadership from Cornell University’s School of Business. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership.
Ms. Occhiogrosso began her career in education teaching a college-level writing course for Duquesne University. She then taught 9th-12th grade English at Harriton High School in Lower Merion and International Baccalaureate Students in Vienna, Austria. Ms. Occhiogrosso prides herself on creating meaningful learning experiences for students of all abilities, and she has been trained in co-teaching for students with special needs, AP, and International Baccalaureate.
Marie is specifically trained in the area of College Guidance. She has worked in standardized test prep since 2004, and has supported students in improving their SAT and ACT scores to help them actualize their college aspirations. She started a private practice on the Main Line supporting students through all aspects of the college admissions process, focusing on Best Fit and financial feasibility. Her education and predilection for writing helps students craft specific, evocative college essays to craft a cohesive narrative. Marie completed UCLA’s graduate program in College Admissions Counseling and regularly pursues professional development in the field of admissions. Marie is uniquely qualified to guide the Mesivta’s young men through their post-high school planning process and the admissions cycle.
In addition to teaching and College Guidance, Marie masterfully serves as The Mesivta’s Secular Studies Principal.
